If you’re not ready to commit to a whitening treatment, there are still some ways you can naturally whiten your teeth. Altering your diet can go a long way in the whiteness of your teeth. Here’s a few foods you might want to consider eating more of in order to improve the appearance of your smile.

Strawberries

While you might think that strawberries will stain your teeth red, this actually isn’t the case. These delightful fruits have an enzyme called malic acid which naturally improves the color of teeth. In fact, many commercial whitening products have this enzyme in them.

Cauliflower

Even though cauliflower doesn’t include any magical enzyme like strawberries, it is a tough substance that you have to chew for a while before swallowing. This chewing action makes your mouth produce more saliva, which in turn cleans your mouth more thoroughly.

Sesame or Coconut Oil

This may seem a bit strange, but there’s a process known as oil pulling where you gargle with oil in your mouth. Just put a small amount in your teeth, and swish it around for 15 minutes. During this time, your teeth will begin to absorb all of the nutrients from the oil, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, calcium, vitamin B, and iron. These will all promote healthy teeth and prevent cavities from forming.

Broccoli

In its raw form, broccoli is slightly tough and abrasive. When you chew on it, it will begin to slightly abrade the surface of your tooth, clearing away surface stains and helping your teeth look brighter in appearance. There’s also a lot of iron in broccoli, which helps to form a barrier against harmful acids.

Cheese

Cheese is packed with important nutrients like calcium and phosphorus, both of which strengthen your teeth and make them healthy. In turn, this makes them shine brightly. Cheese also protects your teeth from harmful, cavity-causing acid.

Apples

Since apples are so crunchy, your teeth will have to work hard to break them down. All of this chewing exercises your teeth and gums and works like a natural scrubbing device to remove surface stains.

As you can see, there are plenty of foods out there that can help naturally whiten your teeth to improve your smile.
