Here at Mann Family Dental, we want to make sure we are giving our patients the best care possible, and part of that is providing services with the latest technology in dentistry.
We recently added a Sirona ORTHOPHOS XG 3D scanner to our office in Manchester, and we are thrilled with what we can now offer our patients. The scanner allows me to evaluate exactly whether there is enough bone to place dental implants and where. It also allows me to see abnormalities that may have gone undiagnosed. These abnormalities are things like cysts, cancers, septum deviations, and sinus infections.
The scanner is the same size as a 2D x-ray machine, and we have it in a room adjacent to our patient rooms. The scanning process is very simple and painless. The patient can sit or stand during the scan and it only takes 14 seconds.
With this machine, our patients can know definitively if they are a good candidate for dental implants with little or no surprises after surgery commences. It also allows for fabrication of surgical guides prior to the implants being placed. Many times after having a scan it is determined that the patient can actually have dental implants when it was thought initially that they could not. Sometimes, serious conditions can be diagnosed or discovered with a scan and the patient can then be referred to the appropriate medical professional.
With this scanner we can see more of what our patients need to improve their oral health. This means we can treat them more effectively, so they can go about their lives without worrying about problems in their mouth.
