Patients travel from miles away for IV sedation with Dr. Russell Mann
Did you know Dr. Mann is one of the only dentists in New Hampshire that provides IV sedation to his patients? It’s true! Dr. Mann has extensive training in sedation and can help you take care of your dental health while simultaneously decreasing your anxiety. IV sedation can decrease the number of dental visits and help you relax so you can get the healthcare you need without fear. IV sedation is a game-changer for patients who need a lot of work done, or for those who have anxiety or dental phobias. If you think IV sedation is a good fit for you, give us a call and we can determine if you are a good candidate.
What is IV Sedation?
IV sedation is the method of delivering a sedative directly into the bloodstream. Dr. Mann will deliver a sedative intravenously and then when you are feeling relaxed and ready, he can complete your procedure. A small needle is used to deliver the sedative directly into the bloodstream, having a nearly immediate result. You will begin to feel calm, relaxed, and maybe a little tired. However, unlike “going under” you will still be awake, responsive, and able to follow any instructions the doctor may have. Many patients report they remember the procedure like it was a dream.
Get the Care You Need, Comfortably
Dr. Mann is one of a few dentists to receive an unrestricted moderate sedation permit from the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners. This permit allows the use of intravenous medication as well as oral medication to help patients who are undergoing lengthy procedures, or for those that have fear or anxiety, get the care they need with ease. Sedation can help anyone relax through their dental procedure.
Customized Sedation for Your Needs
There are several kinds of sedation available at Mann Family Dental. For patients who just need a little help taking the edge off, our Nitrous Oxide option is ideal. After a few deep breaths of ‘laughing gas’, patients feel calm and relaxed without being overly tired. Patients are aware of their surroundings, responsive, and can communicate easily during a procedure. For patients who need a bit more help to calm their nerves, we offer oral sedation. For this level of calming, you will take an oral medication about an hour before your procedure. Like Nitrous Oxide, you will still be aware and awake with oral sedation, but may not remember everything
about the procedure.
Finally, for patients who have higher levels of fear, anxiety, phobias, or are undergoing lengthy procedures we can provide IV sedation. With the help of the consistent administration of the sedative you will be calm, and in a dream-like state during your procedure. Dental sedation can be life-changing for patients who have past dental traumas or severe anxiety. If you or someone you know could benefit from sedation, please give us a call today.
